As a jewellery brand, we are always meeting brides looking for the perfect finishing touches to their wedding day, so we’ve put together our own guide to bridesmaid jewellery in the hope that we can help some of you out.

Being jewellery lovers, jewellery always comes first for us, but when it comes to choosing your bridesmaids jewellery, it’s a different ball game! Jewellery should always be the finishing touch to the outfit, complimenting the colours and necklines, but shouldn’t be forgotten about and most certainly shouldn’t be hurried.

Budget for your bridesmaid jewellery

With money leaving your bank account left, right and centre for catering, venues and decoration, set yourself a budget and know what you can afford to spend. Ask yourself whether you’re going to set a budget per bridesmaid or an overall bridesmaid jewellery budget and stick to it.

The dress is the showstopper

Sure you can make a statement with your jewellery, but remember that the dress is the ultimate showstopper. The jewellery should compliment – or make a statement alongside – the dress which is already making its own statement.

Love the colour, darling!

Let’s cut to the chase, shall we? If you’ve got a colour scheme going on, of course it should be kept in mind, but remember that there are colours out there that compliment your primary colour. If you’ve set your colour scheme as pastel yellow, it’s going to be a bit of a sensory overload when it’s all your guests will see. This is why we recommend mixing and matching colours every now and again, and jewellery is the perfect place to start experimenting with this notion.

Consider the neckline

When choosing a necklace for your bridesmaids outfits, think about the neckline and make sure it sits right. If you choose a necklace that sits lower, the outfit can look messy, unthought out and may distract from the overall beauty of the dress.

For necklines such as the V-Neck, Scoop, Strapless, Sweetheart and Queen-Anne, a longer or bulky necklace would work perfectly here, as it is able to fill out the space on bare parts of the skin.

We recommend

Love Drop necklace, £80

Roses in a row, £85

Something blue, £180

Girl, what have you done to your hair?

It’s not just the necklines you should consider, but the hairstyle too. At the end of the day, you can’t make a statement with jewellery that’s not visible.

If your bridesmaids are wearing their hair up, a simple stud will do. We have a selection of studs that make for perfect bridesmaid jewellery, so we’ve hand-picked some of our favourites that may not be constantly visible, but will definitely stop the show when they’re seen.

Love Knot earrings, £45

Tranquility Square earrings, £40

Make A Wish earrings, £35

If your bridesmaids will be wearing their hair up, then prepare to go crazy. You have the choice of keeping the bridesmaid jewellery simple with studs, or going a bit more glitzy with longer earrings or hoops. At KASHKA, we love both.

Venus earrings, from £55

Nina Drops, from £60

Morning Dew Earrings, £75

Do you need it? Really?

If you have a halter neck neckline for example, you should be asking yourself whether you even need a necklace. Our tip here? Only buy the jewellery you need, otherwise you will find yourself drastically overdoing it.

Don’t be afraid to go different

It isn’t uncommon for a bride to have an overall colour scheme (such as pastel) with numerous colours within that, so don’t be afraid to go different. Think about each unique outfit you’re working with and choose the jewellery to compliment.

Elegance is key

And before you ask, yes you can make a statement whilst remaining elegant. The key is to keep it simple and choose the right bridesmaid jewellery. You’ll know if it’s wrong. Trust your gut.

Who will be wearing it?

At the end of the day, the jewellery you’re choosing here isn’t being worn by you. Think about that particular bridesmaids personality and style, and ask yourself whether you think she will like it. If you’re really struggling, then maybe give your bridesmaid a budget and ask her to come up with some options for you to consider. Chances are, she’ll thank you for letting her loose and these could always double up as your thank you present.

The bridesmaids needs

Coming in last, but certainly not least; does the person that is going to be wearing this jewellery have any allergies to certain types of metals? Are their ears pierced? What ring size do they have?

Knowing little facts like this will be a massive help to you when shopping.
